This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Ecclesiastes 9:7
Today, I am thinking about those things that we choose to celebrate. I had this thought as I was at my son’s college graduation last weekend. We always remember to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and special occasions. I was having a conversation with my son, and it got me to thinking about also celebrating those events that help to shape our lives. For example, I will always celebrate the day when I put my hand in God’s Hand, and chose to leave corporate America to become an entrepreneur and author.
As I spoke with my son, I felt that there was also another celebratory moment. He is a physics major and he told me, “Ma, the last thirty days, (in terms of his coursework) has been very, very grueling. It was just God and me, making it all happen.”
This is when I had the thought – “This is really a celebratory moment.” We raise our children, teaching them about God, and trying to help them to develop their own spiritual awareness. It is truly rewarding to see them reach back as an adult to apply the principles you instilled in them. My initial thought was – “Wow! I’m as ready to celebrate this as much as I am his college graduation.”
The Words that inspire me are “Go eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do.” Ecclesiastes 9:7 (ESV)
Tomorrow, let’s talk about preparation. Please share this reflection with others, and recognize together the significant moments.
Today, go and celebrate something that has shaped your life.
