Use Your Words as Loving, Inspiring Seeds

This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Scripture reference: Ephesians 4:29 (ESV)

Today, I am thinking about how we can plant seeds of inspiration into one another.

One significant way we do this is through our words. I was reminded of this approach when I thought about a conversation I had with a pastor a few years ago. I will never forget what he taught me during our brief talk.

While we were conversing, I was going on and on about the grade my teenage son had in one of his classes, and how it was driving me crazy because I knew he wasn’t working at his full potential.

Yet after I told the pastor about my frustrations, he cautioned me. He told me to watch my words, and went on to say that I shouldn’t simply scold and discipline him and leave it at that. Instead, the pastor told me to speak it into my son’s destiny. He said I should speak to my son as if he were the young man I wanted to see five years from now.

This was a very powerful lesson for me. My sons are much older today, and I may not agree with all of their decisions, but I still use my words as seeds of inspiration spoken from my heart into their destiny.

Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, many of us will be visiting family and friends. Whose destiny will you speak into this holiday? Maybe it’s a young person, or maybe it’s a person going through a challenging time.

Give that some thought, and as you do so, remember these words: “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” Ephesians 4:29 (ESV)

Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.

So today, use your words in a loving and powerful way.

All Things Work for Good

Christianity, B Moments

This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Scripture reference: Romans 8:28 (NIV)

Each morning this week I’ve tried to return to the regular tone of a B Moment which includes a Scriptural lesson, or some spiritual revelation that I’ve recently experienced.

However, I find, that I cannot let go of this current national dialogue about our country’s racial divide.

This conversation for the last several days has been heavy on my heart, and I will always share what’s on my heart.

At first, I questioned myself as to whether I was neglecting the Scriptures since I have been so engaged in this national discussion.  But then I reasoned, what good is it to study the Word if we cannot put it into action?

As a result of this heated debate and sometimes dismal outlook, this morning I am reflecting on how all things work together for the good of the Lord.

Sometimes it’s difficult to comprehend how any good could come from a set of tragic events.  Especially, when precious lives are lost.  How can we find the good in this?

This is when there’s an opportunity to lift our heads from studying the Word to practicing It, and to being lifted by It. It is possible to see God’s Hand move…even over tragedy when our relationship with Him is deeper.

I am warmly encouraged by the Words – “…weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:5 (KJV)

These Words also inspire me, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NIV)

Share this B Moment because I know, during these times, others need to be inspired.
