God Put It in Motion Long Ago

This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Scripture reference: Philippians 1:6 (NLT)

This morning I am thinking about how God put our life’s calling in place long before we even desired it.

Recently, I shared that B Moments hit the one year mark, which caused me to think about how God began to prepare me for this work long before a year ago.

In other words, He began working with me even before I had the desire to teach or talk about God’s Word.

In fact, several years ago, I was in a real slump. A friend said to me, “Suzette, it’s finally time that you turn to God’s Word.” It felt like a tall task initially, because I was not a Bible-reading person.

Even though I was always around the Bible, I was never in relationship with it.  For example, there’s always been a Bible in every home where I have lived; it was likely placed on the nightstand next to the bed.  But, I never picked it up to read it.  I would only refer to it if someone pointed me to a particular scripture.

I would also get a scripture from my pastor’s sermon on Sunday.  That’s it.  That was the extent of my interaction with the Bible.

However, one day shortly after my friend told me that I should start reading the Bible, I walked into the bedroom and I stared at it on the nightstand.  It felt like it was staring right back at me.

I knew at that moment God was saying to me, “It’s time for you to pick it up.” So, I just said, “Father, if you’re really speaking to me, let me turn to a passage that’s relevant to what I am going through.”

I turned to Jeremiah 29.  For the first time, I read Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans that I have for you…”

I knew that was God speaking to me in that moment, and I haven’t put His Word down since.

The Words that I use to inspire me are, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Philippians 1:6 (NLT)

Share this reflection with others, so that they, too, may be inspired to pursue their calling in life.

So what great work has God prepared in you, that He is still waiting for you to take that leap of faith?
