This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Scripture reference: Matthew 5:16 (ESV)

Today I am reflecting on how my definition of success has continued evolving over the years. I had a breakthrough once while I was reading Acts 3. This chapter involves Peter meeting a lame man outside the Beautiful Gate of the Temple in Jerusalem who had been begging for alms there for the last forty years.

I had always identified with Peter when I read this passage before.  Although, this time, I felt myself identifying with the lame man more. He had been begging for money for years. But Peter did not give the man money. He chose to heal the man instead. As an extension of Peter’s choice, not only was the man healed but many other lives were touched because of his healing.

This is when it all began to come together for me. I too had been yearning and asking God for more for years, so that I could be more…so that I could ultimately become a success. But what I have come to understand is that success is a natural by product of God’s hand on my life.

Just as thousands of souls were touched by the healing of the lame man, success is being able to use the testimony of one’s life’s to touch the lives of others, and sometimes even perfect strangers.

I know now that my story is not for me to keep. Rather it is to be beacon of God’s glory. That is success.

The Words that I use to teach me are, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (ESV)

So today, don’t keep your story for yourself. Let your light shine.
