Today I am encouraging you to move from fearful to faithful.
I don’t know if you’re like me, but there are certain days of the year that feel like a new beginning to me. Of course there is New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, and, believe it or not, the day after Labor Day. These days spark feelings of purpose and destiny within me.
The singular reason feelings like these eventually fade is because we struggle to move from fearful to faithful. God knew this was the plight of a widow, so He sent His prophet Elijah to her during a very severe drought.
With only a handful of flour and a drop of olive oil to her name, Elijah asked her to use those ingredients to prepare bread for him. She told him she only had enough to prepare a last meal for her son and herself, but he told her, “Do not fear. Prepare your meal, but prepare my bread first.”
Against all her motherly instincts, this widow stepped out in faith and fed Elijah before her own son. When she took one step away from fear and toward faith, she saw an overflow of oil and flour to last her throughout the drought.
