This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Psalm 46:10 (NLT)
Today I am thinking about how sometimes we can feel sandwiched between a tough situation and an unresponsive God. We can feel even more frustrated when we’re in a situation we didn’t cause or one we don’t control.
I’m sure this is how the Israelites may have felt when God sent Moses to lead them out of Egypt.
Once they realized that Moses was really sent by God to free them, they wanted to worship and offer sacrifices before God. But when Pharaoh learned about this, he only added to their workload and drove them even harder. The Israelites must have felt real defeat.
First, the Israelites were in a situation due to no wrongdoing of their own. Second, they were still trying to do what was right while still in a bad situation, but things only got worse for them. Third, the God whom they were worshiping had the power to change things but appeared unresponsive.
I can relate to these feelings, especially.
If we’re not careful, this is when disbelief can creep in. That idea of – “I can’t win for losing,” which ultimately can stir a real feeling of defeat within us.
What I have learned is that while it’s human to feel defeat in the moment, the key is not to give in to that feeling.
If God said it, He will definitely bring it to pass.
Of course, we know how this story ended. The Israelites were ultimately brought out of bondage and into a land of their own, and Pharaoh was destroyed.
So when I feel a spirit of defeat coming on, I recall these few words, “Be still and know that I am God.” Psalms 46:10 (NLT)
Please share this reflection, because others desire to be inspired.
So today release defeat, get still, and know that God is still in control.
