This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Proverbs 3:24-26 (ESV)
I just heard a good story that I wanted to share with you. It comforted me as I reflect on the aftermath of another set of tragic events – this time in Nice, France where a man drove a truck into a crowd that was celebrating Bastille Day. More than 80 people were killed.
I was talking to a woman who lives in New York about the frequency of so many terrorists attacks lately, and she began to recall her own stories from the September 11th terrorist attack on U.S. soil.
This woman shared how she had a dear friend who worked for a company in one of the World Trade Towers. Her friend had a unique work ethic. He would never miss, and would oftentimes arrive early, or end up staying late.
Therefore, if there was anyone who was at risk of losing his life that morning it would have been him. But as God would have it, his wife went into labor that morning.
Instead of this man being at his desk when the planes struck the towers, he was at his wife’s bedside as she delivered their son – two weeks early. Unfortunately, all of his colleagues in his office were killed that day.
I was so comforted by this story. Even as I pondered the frequency of these attacks, and wondered if the next one would hit closer to home, a woman comes along to remind me of God’s Divine Protection.
The Words that comfort me are:
When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
Have no fear of sudden disaster… for the Lord will be at your side.

Amen. I remember that story so well of the faithful employee. God is Faithful! Thank you for reminding us of His divine protection, even when we are not knowledgeable of the danger that is lurking around us. Praise God.
