This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Matthew 6:34 (NIV)
This morning I am thinking about the importance of living in the present. Today is Labor Day and even though the summer doesn’t officially end for a few more weeks, my mind always feels like summer is just about over when Labor Day rolls around.
Therefore, I can never really appreciate the day because I’m always on the fence between partially enjoying family and friends, and being preoccupied with the responsibilities of tomorrow.
The day after Labor Day is typically the first day of school for many, so as a young mother I would always be preoccupied with – “Do the boys have everything they need to start the school day tomorrow? Do I have everyone’s lunch items? What will they wear on the first day?” The latter is usually the last thing on a little’s boy’s mind.
These sorts of thoughts would usually preoccupy me, thus preventing me from living in the moment. Another way to say it is that Labor Day would be a day where I would labor over tomorrow. I would always be torn between this holiday and the next day.
But what I have learned over the years is that today is a day that will take care of itself and so will tomorrow.
So today, just be at peace and enjoy your family and friends.
The Words that teach me are, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34 (NIV)

So today, savor your moments and let tomorrow take care of its self.
