This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: 1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV)
Today, I am feeling the need to make good choices. The other night I was watching a show on cable with my husband, and three sons. My children are older now, with my youngest nearly 18 years old.
It started out as good family time. I love to watch shows with them…even the evening news so that I can listen to their perspectives on things.
As soon as I got nestled in to watch a good show, I began to hear a lot of expletives and see a lot of violent scenes. Initially, I felt uncomfortable, but I wanted to stay put. I wanted to spend this time with my family, so I was hoping that the expletives would stop. But, they didn’t. I knew that was my cue to leave the room.
Quite honestly, twenty years ago I would have continued watching this show, and thought nothing of it.
Although, I’ve grown in the last twenty years. I have learned that when your walk with God is closer, you begin to make different choices.
So, let me ask you – “Are you still saying ‘yes’ to something that you should be saying ‘no’ to? For me, it was a television show. What is it for you?
The Words that I use to inspire me are, “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV)
Tomorrow, let’s talk about setting boundaries. Please share this reflection with others as they desire to be inspired.
So today, remove yourself from that situation that no longer serves your higher good.
