This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Genesis 1:3-4 (NLT)
Today I am reminding myself of the simple importance of sunshine. Spring is here, summer is just around the corner. But many of us, if we’re not careful, may miss a lot of it. If you live in Chicago, like I do, you don’t want to do that!
Here I really need to call myself out. I’m at the top of the list before I talk about anyone else. I can really run from point A to point B. I run to get my coffee and run to the office. Then may I run for a few errands. Sometimes I’m even guilty of running to church.
When we’re in this run, run, run mindset, we forget to take in the sustenance that we need, sustenance that God has designed especially for us. We can become so caught up in what we think we have to do, that we tell ourselves that we can’t take the time. Then we find ourselves running our metaphorical engines, if you will, on empty. There’s this idea pounded into so many of us, “we can’t take a break.” We often reach a place where “taking a break” equals “setback.”
I’m going to move away from that thinking today. The Words that keep me grounded in this resolution and bring me back to the beginning of this reflection are “God said let there be light and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And then he separated the light from darkness.” Genesis 1:3-4 (NLT)
Tomorrow, let’s talk about how we can get in our own way. Please share this reflection with others, especially if you know someone who needs to be prodded just to take a deep breath. And today, let’s remind ourselves that we can take a break and it won’t be a setback.
