This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: 1 John 1:9 (ESV)
This morning I am thinking about how one wrong act can have a snowball effect if it isn’t corrected.
Recently we learned that Melania Trump, wife of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, was accused of plagiarizing First Lady Michelle Obama’s 2008 convention speech, for her own convention speech.
First, I think it’s important not to understate the intense pressure these national presidential campaigns are under. It is not uncommon for a family member or staffer to use poor judgment in the moment. That said, being under significant pressure never relieves us from owning our mistakes.
Even though we may be presented several “off-ramps” to acknowledge the mistake, it may seem too risky so we sweep it under the carpet, and pray it goes away.
Consequently, we learn that if a mistake goes unaddressed, it can have a snowball effect as it did with Mrs. Trump and her speechwriter(s). It is the classic case of when the cover up becomes greater than the original incident.
What I have learned from making my own costly mistakes is to address them head on, so that I can move on.
The Words that I use to comfort myself are, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 (ESV)
Tomorrow, let’s talk about laughter. Share this B Moment as others desire to be inspired.
So today, face your mistakes head on, so that you can move on.
