Scripture references: 1 Corinthians 13:4-6 (ESV)
Some seasons of life ask us to pause — especially in our relationships. We love deeply, we dream boldly, and sometimes we quietly hope others will meet us exactly where we are. And when they don’t, it’s easy to slip into conditional love without even noticing.
But God has been teaching me something gentler, something freer.
Love doesn’t have to hinge on someone else’s understanding or agreement. Love can breathe. Love can release. Love can say, “I care for you… and I don’t need you to be anything other than who you are.”
When we let go of the “but,” we make room for grace. We make room for God to reshape our hearts, our expectations, and our relationships. And in that space, love becomes lighter — not because others change, but because we do.
As you reflect on that, remember these words — “Love is patient and kind…it does not insist on its own way; it’s not irritable or resentful.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-6 (ESV)
