This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Mark 10:45 (ESV)
Today, I am honoring unsung heroes. We’re all familiar with the great people of the Bible such as Moses, Noah, Mary, the Disciples, and the Apostle Paul. There were also great people who were not mentioned as much, but who stood behind these forenamed people to help carry the message of the Lord.
One person in particular was Tychicus. As we know, Paul authored more than half of the New Testament, and Tychicus helped Paul spread the Gospel. Tychicus would go about setting the stage for Paul in certain towns. Specifically, his role was to speak directly to the hearts of the people before Paul addressed them. In modern day terms, Tychicus was like an opening act for Paul. He prepared the crowds for Paul, so by the time Paul reached them they were ready to receive his message and embrace his teachings.
I must honestly say that this is an area that I had to grow into. There was a time in my life when I did something great, I would desire public recognition. Recognition from others meant a lot to me. What I have learned is that the more my actions are motivated from my Spirit rather than my ego, the public recognition means less. In other words, my actions have become more about serving Him rather than being recognized by them.
The Words that inspire me are, “For even the son of man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45 ESV
Tomorrow, let’s talk about missed prayer time. Please share this reflection with others and take a moment to acknowledge an unsung hero today.
