Sometimes it’s necessary to broaden our view of things.
Recently, I recalled a girlfriend confessing me to several years ago that that particular year ended up being a very difficult year for her and she was glad to see it go. I related to her at that moment because I know what it feels like to live through a challenging year.
For example, let’s say that 2023 was a very challenging year for you. There’s no sugarcoating that. It was a challenging year. Period.
But we must remember that a difficult year may have been God preparing you and pruning you for greater—not your definition of greater but His.
Maybe He needed to challenge you so that you were well-positioned to receive His blessings and hold onto them. God was chiseling you into the person you are today. Yes, some of that chiseling was painful, but it also served a purpose.
As you think about that, remember these words: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2 (NIV)
