This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Scripture reference: Romans 12:19 (ESV)

Today, I am thinking about how God will give you the last laugh.

When I turn to the Scriptures, I think about Hannah’s story. Hannah was one of two wives to Elkanah. Elkanah’s other wife, Peninnah, could bare children and would always tease Hannah about being barren. Each year, Elkanah would take his family to the tabernacle to present a sacrifice before the Lord, and afterwards, they would have a family dinner together.

Let’s imagine the scene at that dinner table. Hannah is seated at a dinner table with a woman who teases her all the time, telling her things such as, “God has closed your womb.” This woman is also married to her husband and has children for him. Hannah, on the other hand, wants to have children but can’t.

This family dinner ritual went on for years. Peninnah would taunt Hannah so much that she would end up crying during most of the dinner and not eating at all.

However, in His divine time, God would bless Hannah—not with one child but with seven, turning Hannah’s tears of anguish to tears of joy. As for Peninnah, as the Scriptures say, “Those who were mighty are no longer mighty.”

God gave Hannah the last laugh and know that He will do the same for you as long as you keep the faith. As you think about that, remember these words: “Beloved, never avenge yourselves…’Vengeance is mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord.” Romans 12:19 (ESV)

Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.

So today, get ready to laugh.
