Scripture references: Psalm 28:7 (ESV)
Sometimes the word meek gets misunderstood. It’s often associated with being weak, passive, or submissive. But biblically, meekness is something far more powerful. It means strength under control. It’s trusting God to direct the outcome, rather than asserting your own agenda.
Daniel embodied this beautifully. When a decree was issued forbidding prayer, he didn’t retaliate or hide. He simply sat at the same window, as he always had, and continued to pray. That kind of meekness didn’t make him fragile—it made him fearless. Even when thrown into the lion’s den, Daniel remained unharmed. God honored his trust and sealed the lions’ mouths shut.
Meekness isn’t about shrinking back—it’s about standing firm in God’s strength. It’s about trusting that He will shield you, even when others plot against you.
As you reflect on that, remember these words: “The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped…” Psalm 28:7 (ESV)
