Scripture references: Romans 8:26
Sometimes we approach prayer like a wish list — inspired by verses like “Ask and you shall receive” (Matthew 7:7) — and we begin naming the desires of our hearts. I’ve prayed this way more times than I count. But during one season, while rattling off my list, I was quietly wrestling with self-doubt.
That hidden struggle — not seeing myself as “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14) — was the real barrier. And that’s where the Holy Spirit met me.
When we invite the Spirit into our prayer time, He doesn’t just respond to our requests — He gently uncovers the deeper wounds, the buried beliefs, the root causes. And in that sacred space, true healing begins.
The next time you pray, be intentional about inviting the Holy Spirit in and remember these words: “For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” Romans 8:26
