This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
Today, I am thinking about the various ways that God prepares us.
Recently, I talked about how God can use struggle and imperfect conditions to challenge us and to prepare us for greater. There are other times though, that we simply go about our daily lives–wanting more, asking for more–and things just feel ordinary. I have come to learn that during these ordinary times, God is also preparing us for greater.
One example of this use of the mundane to prepare us for the extraordinary is when God used sheep to ready David for his magnificent purpose. David started out as a shepherd boy, caring for sheep, providing them with food and water, and protecting them from external threats and from themselves by making sure they didn’t go astray.
However, what was unknown to David was that God was using these experiences with sheep to equip him with the skills to be an esteemed warrior-like king.
When I look at my own life, there have been times when I have felt that things were uneventful and monotonous. What I didn’t realize was that God was using what seemed exceptional to me in order to prepare me for the miraculous. Therefore, we must turn our lives over to God and trust his plans for us.
The words that I use to inspire me are: “For I know the plans that I have for you…plans to prosper you and not to harm you.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
Please share this reflection because others desire to be inspired.
So today, remember that God is using the ordinary to ready you for the extraordinary.
