This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Matthew 6:6 (ESV)
Today, I am appreciating the value of my personal sanctuary.
Even though I often read the actual Scriptures, I am always fascinated to learn the circumstances surrounding certain events from the Bible. In fact, the other day, I read about an event that truly moved me.
Apparently, at the exact time of Jesus’s death, the veil in the temple was ripped from top to bottom. This was to represent the free and unlimited access people now had to God due to Christ’s sacrifice. I actually hadn’t known this incredible story before.
However, when I read about that incredible event, I felt it underscored the importance of having access to a personal haven so we can take advantage of this glorious gift Christ gave to us. For me, as you may have heard, my haven is my tub!
The story of the veil also reminded me of a time when I was really struggling and I reached out to a pastor I knew. When I told him that I had been feeling incredibly forsaken by God, he responded that perhaps it wasn’t that God had moved away from me, but that I had moved away from Him. So that personal sanctuary also keeps me close to God and in a constant relationship with Him.
The words I use to inspire me are, “When you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” Matthew 6:6 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, identify that special spot in your home and make it your personal sanctuary.
