Love that scripture – that is the one that reminds me He has my back, no matter how my circumstances appear. Also your story, a great reminder to stay present in the moment and in the activity, without focusing on the outcomes; stay focused, faithful, and present to the activity right in front of us (wax on, wax off). Mr. Miyagi was teaching Danny important moves (including to be conscious of his breathing) he would later need by doing something that seemed mundane and tedious. Similarly, I think God is working through the tasks we label as ‘mundane’ to teach us the ‘wax on, wax off’ moves we will need for whatever comes next in our lives. In your story, it was about being focused on how you were treating people rather than the sales. Your use of the Wax On – Wax Off analogy is such a powerful reminder that He is teaching us what we need, at the pace we can handle. Danny could not, from his limited perspective, connect washing and waxing cars with the discipline and moves he would later need for karate. Similarly, we often don’t connect today’s task with the mindset and skills we need for that prayer we want answered. As Mr. Miyagi told Danny, we just have to willing to learn, and that includes doing whatever He tells us to do … and He will teach! Thank you for the powerful story and for helping me to wax on, wax off with joy today!
