This is your B moment. Your moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Today I am encouraging you to shift your mindset from a fear of lack.
This is what the widow the prophet Elijah visited had to learn. At the time of his visit, there was a severe drought going on.
Although, when Elijah greeted the widow, he still asked her for a cup of water and a piece of bread.
The widow did what any logical person would do. She assessed the ingredients she had to make the bread and realized there wasn’t enough. In fact, she told Elijah that she only had a handful of flour and a drop of cooking oil left.
Overcome by her fear of lack, she even confessed to Elijah that she had planned to cook this last meal for her son and herself, and then she had planned to die. This widow needed to shift her mindset away from a fear of lack.
Elijah stopped her in her tracks and instructed her to give to him first by baking him a loaf of bread before she cooked her own meal. The prophet was teaching her an effective way to overcome her fear of lack – by giving to others.
The widow prepared Elijah’s bread, and when she finished she realized she had plenty of oil and flour — enough to last her through the drought. In life, you may not always have tangible gifts to offer to those around you, but even lending a smile or compliment can cause your fears to dissipate.
As you reflect on that, remember these words:
“I sought the Lord and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4 (NIV)
