Scripture reference: Luke 6:38 (ESV)
Transcription:
I can easily recall those days when I would refrain from giving altogether if I couldn’t give what I really wanted to give. If I didn’t have enough money, I would either give what I could afford and feel somewhat ashamed, or I wouldn’t give at all.
Today, I understand that God does not measure giving the same way society does, as shown in the story about the widow’s offering.
One day, many wealthy people put large sums of money in the treasury at the temple as they were giving from their abundance, while a widow walked up and deposited just two coins.
Unlike the others, the widow gave what she had from her heart, and Jesus later discussed the importance of her giving in this way with his disciples.
Remember, God knows the motivation behind your giving, therefore, when you’re not able to give the way you want to, give something from your heart anyway.
As today is Giving Tuesday, remember these words: “…give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over…” Luke 6:38 (ESV)
