This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Today is Pentecost Sunday, the seventh Sunday after Easter when we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit.
I want you to know that others will look upon you with wonder and amazement when the Holy Spirit is working through you. This is exactly what happened to Peter.
Shortly after the Holy Spirit descended upon Peter, a man who had been lame for forty years asked him for money. Peter told the man that he had no silver or gold to give him, but he could instead offer him healing in the name of Jesus.
Everyone in that town knew that this man had been lame since birth. So, when they witnessed, with great wonder, this once lame man now leaping around as a result of the Holy Spirit working through Peter, nearly five thousand people turned to Christ.
However, the religious leaders were threatened by Peter’s power, so they arrested him and called him to speak before the council.
It’s important to note two things. First, Peter was an uneducated man as he had not attended rabbinical school like these religious leaders. Second, the stakes were high as Peter could have been killed on the spot.
Yet filled with the Holy Spirit, this council listened to Peter will great wonder as he told them how he healed the man by the power of Christ.
So, be encouraged about what’s possible when you accept the gift of the Holy Spirit into your life, and remember these words: “…the spirit helps us in our weakness…the spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” Romans 8:26 (ESV)
