This is your B moment. Your moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Scripture reference: Galatians 2:21 (NLT)

Transcription:

Today I want you to remember two words when you feel as though you’re falling short: God’s grace.

God’s grace is a precious gift that you are covered by and is especially important to remember as we celebrate the advent season. The term advent is derived from the Latin word meaning coming, so this is a season filled with the spirit of expectation.

As I think about this special season, I think about the Jewish people who lived before Christ came as well as what they longed for. These people were under heavy Roman oppression, and they wanted badly to be delivered by a Messiah.

However, they thought this was something that could only be earned. They believed the Messiah would only come if they could keep the Sabbath for four consecutive weeks. Their struggle was that the Mosaic law was extraordinarily difficult to keep just for a single day, much less for four consecutive weeks. Therefore, they lived with unfulfilled expectations.

Yet I want you to rejoice today because Christ did come! He came as your redeemer and was sent as a loving gift, not as a reward for good behavior. The truth is, we could never earn this kind of love, no matter what we did.

I want you to remember this truth, especially when you feel defeated and unworthy and that you are falling short.

As you think about this, remember these words:

“I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no reason for Christ to die.” Galatians 2:21 (NLT)
