This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
Today, I am anticipating God’s promises being fulfilled.
We are now wrapping up our series on exhaling in the arms of God. During this series, we’ve focused on recalling the promises He’s already fulfilled for us and on exhaling as we await new promises and blessings. We also talked about how we need to respond to God in a supernatural way while waiting for His blessings.
When we turn to the book of Acts, we see that’s exactly what Paul and Silas did after they were arrested. They were stripped naked, beaten, put in chains, and imprisoned.
However, around midnight, the strangest thing happened. Both Paul and Silas began to sing and pray.
Think about that for a moment. It makes perfect sense at midnight to cry out to God or even to complain to Him. Yet despite all they had been through, they chose to sing and worship and praise Him.
We usually think of singing and rejoicing in response to God’s blessings. However, singing is not always in response to God’s actions, but in anticipation of them.
Paul and Silas’ singing was truly a supernatural response. They were able to shift the focus from their pain to their hope. They sang in anticipation of God’s promises to be fulfilled.
As you think about your own promises and prayers being fulfilled, cling to these words: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary.” Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, start singing.
Lavelle
Amen and yes…it’s time to start singing!! xo
