This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV)
Today, I am asking another question: Am I blocking my own blessings?
When I think about blessings, I usually don’t think about me being the one who is blocking them. However, as I began to give it a deeper look, I could see that there were ways that I harbor certain feelings and emotions that add up to emotional clutter and, in turn, block my blessings.
We’re all familiar with physical clutter. We know what it looks like when our desk is cluttered, or our closet or garage needs cleaning out. Yet what blocks our blessings is emotional clutter.
Earlier in the week, I talked about evaluating my life and how I sometimes avoid the process because that may mean I need to make changes. Sometimes, when I don’t make the changes I know I need, then I feel guilty. That’s the type of clutter that can block our blessings.
When we carry around guilt over not turning our problems over to God, or not asking for His help or guidance, we carry that around. That baggage makes our connection to God weaker.
I also talked about the difference between being right and doing right earlier in the week. When we sink a lot of energy in trying to be right, that adds to our spiritual clutter as well.
Therefore, let’s join together in identifying and cleaning up that spiritual clutter by clinging to these words: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness…against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, let’s give God all of that emotional clutter.
