This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Isaiah 65:24 (ESV)
Today, I am thinking about the fact that while we are praying, God is delivering.
I had this thought while I was reading about Abraham, who sent his servant on a long journey to find a wife for his son Isaac. Abraham took this assignment extremely seriously—so seriously, in fact, that he made the servant take an oath before he left for his journey.
After taking the oath, Abraham’s servant feared that he might not be able to fulfill his assignment. First, he was concerned about how long it would take him to find the ideal wife for Isaac. Then, he began to worry that the wife he found would be unwilling to leave her homeland to marry Isaac.
In short, the stakes were high for the servant, and he was afraid of failing. Therefore, he began to pray fervently for God to help him with the assignment.
Yet the Scriptures reveal that while he was on his knees praying, a beautiful woman, Rebekah, came forward and offered water not only to the servant, but to his camels as well. It was then that he knew that her kindness was God answering his prayers.
Most importantly, the servant was still praying while God was in the process of answering.
Sometimes, I need to be reminded of God’s adeptness at responding to our prayers, so the words that I encourage us to cling to are these: “Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, know that while you’re praying, God is delivering.
