This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Today I am encouraging you to break through your own glass ceiling.
This is exactly what the four men who carried a paralyzed man on a mat to hear Jesus preach had to do. One day, word spread that Jesus was visiting a home in Capernaum, and a crowd began to gather. The crowd was so large that no one else could fit inside the home.
This paralyzed man wanted to hear Jesus’ teachings, and he was hoping to also be healed by him. When the four men carrying this paralyzed man could not reach Jesus because of the crowd, they decided to go through the roof of the home to get to him.
In this passage, the roof can represent limitations. These men used their faith to press past any limitations. To put this in even better context, in these days roofs were made of clay. Yet in the gospel of Luke, this particular roof is described as being made of tiles, which might indicate that this event occurred at the home of a wealthy person.
These men believed that Jesus had a special healing for their friend, and they didn’t allow anything to prevent them from receiving what Jesus had for them. Jesus recognized their faith immediately and the paralyzed man was healed at once.
These men saw no limitations. They didn’t let the crowd stop them; they didn’t let a roof stop them; they didn’t even let the fact that they were in a wealthy person’s home stop them.
What limitations are you allowing to come between you and what Christ has for you today? As you think about that, remember these words: “…faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” James 2:17 (ESV)
