This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (ESV)
Recently I was invited to a 50th birthday party. When I receive an invitation as such, two thoughts immediately cross my mind: what will I buy for a gift, and what will I wear.
I begin to wonder if I can get into my favorite dress from last summer. Although, as I peruse my closet racks I think about my underlying motivations to look fit. I realize that I am more motivated to thing about my overall fitness when I am getting ready for a party, or a long-anticipated summer vacation.
I also recognize that I do not always treat my body with kindness and respect. In other words, sometimes I am more motivated to take care of my body when it is in preparation for an event rather than caring for myself as Christ would as a way of daily living.
When I dishonor my body in any way, whether that’s with food, or stress, or lack of rest, I am damaging one of God’s instruments. I don’t want to do this. I really want my body to be used in God’s service. The only way that can happen is if I am honoring and nurturing my body.
The Words that inspire me are, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Tomorrow, let’s talk about true power. Please share this reflection with others, and encourage others to embrace themselves as we were made.
Today, be inspired to love you, as Christ does.
