This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Today I am out of the studio, but I want to encourage you that you are covered by God’s grace—not by laws.
As we are still a few weeks away from Christmas, we are celebrating the Advent season. The term Advent is derived from the Latin word meaning “coming.” This is especially fitting because the Advent season is filled with the spirit of expectation.
As I think about this special season, I think about the Jewish people who lived before Christ came and what they longed for. These people were under heavy Roman oppression, and they wanted badly to be delivered by a Messiah.
However, they thought this was something that could only be earned. They thought the Messiah would come only if they could keep the Sabbath for four consecutive weeks. The problem for them was that the Mosaic law was so difficult at that time that it was tough to honor this law for even a single day, much less four consecutive weeks. Therefore, they lived with unfulfilled expectations.
Yet I am rejoicing today because Christ did come. He came as our redeemer and was sent to us as a loving gift—not as a reward for good behavior. We could never earn this kind of love no matter what we did.
As you reflect on that, hold onto these words: “I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no reason for Christ to die.” Galatians 2:21 (NLT)
