Scripture reference: Psalm 37:4 (ESV)
Transcription:
I have two single girlfriends. One girlfriend is quite content with being single. For her, life is good.
My other single girlfriend is not as content with her reality; she wants to remarry. We talked the other day, and she asked me why God wouldn’t just remove that yearning from her heart if He didn’t intend to bless her with a husband.
Then, I reminded her of Hannah, whose heart ached for a child year after year and who was even taunted and teased for not being able to conceive a child. Yet even after this, Hannah never asked God to remove her desire to have a child. Instead, she drew even closer to God.
Hannah prayed for one child, but God blessed her with five. She would even become a mother to Samuel, the first prophet of Israel. It would have been a mistake for her to ask God to remove her desire.
As you reflect on that, remember these words: “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 (ESV)
