This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Matthew 6:26 (NIV)
Today, I am thinking about not letting the unknown hold us back.
I recently heard a modern day Good Samaritan story. If you didn’t hear the story, a young woman ran out of gas and was approached by a homeless veteran. He told her to get back into her car and lock the doors. Moments later, he reappeared with a gas can to put gas in her car.
This homeless man used his only 20 dollars to purchase her gas, and he didn’t ask for anything in exchange. He chose to step into the unknown rather than let the unknown hold him back.
This woman was so moved by his compassion toward her that she wanted to reciprocate. She started raising money for him online with the goal of providing him with living expenses for at least the next six months as well as a reliable car. To date, she has raised more than 300,000 dollars for this homeless man.
From this story, we know that a homeless man stepped into the unknown by giving away his only 20 dollars. We also see that God not only showed up, but showed out for this man.
This story reminds me of what Jesus told us about the birds: “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow, or reap, or stow away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Matthew 6:26 (NIV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, put your hand into God’s and step into the unknown.
