This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Today, I am thinking about how we can settle for a lesser version of our lives.
In this series, we are talking about all the ways we settle for less than God’s best. We used the story of the lame man at the gate in the book of Acts to underscore this point.
Let’s first go over a few interesting facts. This lame man was about forty years old and had been lame since birth. In other words, being lame was all he knew; the only vision he had of his life was seeing himself as a cripple.
We also know that he was brought to the gate almost every day around the same time. This means that he enlisted others to buy into this lesser version of his life.
Then one day, he was sitting outside the temple and begging for money like he always did when Peter crossed his path. He asked Peter for money, but Peter chose to heal him instead. When this man rose to his feet and saw that he was able to stand and walk on his own, he was overwhelmed with joy and praised God all the way into the temple.
Sometimes you can live a certain way for so long, it becomes your truth because it’s all you know. Yet this means that you hold a lesser vision of your life’s purpose and you end up settling.
However, in this story, God shows us what’s possible with Him through this lame man. Where in your life today are you settling? As you think about that, hold onto my favorite Scripture: “For I know the plans I have for you…plans to prosper you and not to harm you.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, stop settling.
