This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Proverbs 19:21 (NIV)
Today, I am thinking about the way in which God is using me exactly where I am.
I recently talked about desiring a due date, and how, as a mother, I know what it is like to be pregnant with a child and have a date for delivery. I also know, as an entrepreneur, what it is like to be pregnant with a vision and not have a due date.
However, I think the underlying desire for a due date is actually the desire for a particular period in my life to end, such as a period of uncertainty or monotony.
When I turn to the Scriptures, I reflect on the story of Joseph. As we know, Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers for a crime he didn’t commit. It is one thing to want a due date for your vision, but it’s another thing to crave a date for your release from bondage! Can you imagine the overwhelming desire for a due date Joseph felt?
What is later revealed though, is that during those twelve years that Joseph was imprisoned, God was preparing him for a very important role. In other words, God was using Joseph exactly where he was.
There are times when I can be so focused on moving beyond my current situation that I overlook the fact that God is using me just as I am, in my current moment. When I realized this, the sudden clarity of purpose prompted me to want to stand up and embrace my everyday life, as uncertain or monotonous as it seems.
If you’re feeling stuck, as I do sometimes, know that what feels boring to us is purposeful to God. Let us use these words to remind us: “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21 (NIV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, be of good cheer because God is using you exactly where you are.
