This is your B moment. Your moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
Today, I am encouraging you when you feel you’ve been thrown for a loop. Feeling thrown for a loop is all about missed expectations.
I recall talking about my two single girlfriends last year. While one girlfriend was quite content with being single, the other was unhappy and wished to remarry.
Sometimes, when God doesn’t show up (to bless us with a husband, for instance) we can be inclined to simply give up. This can especially be the case when we feel like we’ve been thrown for a loop.
When I turn to the Scriptures, I wonder if this is how Joseph felt when he was in prison. He believed that God was going to work in one specific way, but then He didn’t.
Joseph met the cupbearer while in prison and ended up doing a favor for him by interpreting one of his dreams.
Joseph only asked him for one thing in return – to remember him when he was released from prison and to ask Pharaoh to free him. But once the cupbearer got out of jail, he forgot all about Joseph. In that moment, Joseph may have felt that he had been thrown for a loop. What Joseph teaches us is to not grow weary as he kept his heart, spirit and mind in the right place.
As we know, in God’s perfect time, Joseph would go from the prison cell to the palace. And, as for my girlfriend, she will be hearing wedding bells later this year.
The next time you feel you’re being thrown for a loop, remember these words:
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary…” Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
So today, keep your hopes high!
