This is your B moment. Your moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Today I am sending a gentle reminder your way: Jesus knows your heart.
This is an idea that is particularly important during the Lent season because it is at this time especially that we make sacrifices to be in deeper communion with God. Yet it is important to remember that even when we fall short, God knows what our intentions are. He knows that our hearts are true behind our actions.
When I need to be inspired about how well Jesus knows my heart, I turn to the Scriptures and refer to the parable of the widow. We know that Jesus spent some sitting time in the temple, watching people place offering after offering into the collection plate. While he sat there, many rich people threw down large sums of money. Then, a poor widow put in two small copper coins that were worth only a few cents.
Jesus immediately knew the heart of this widow. He knew the pure intentions of her heart as she dropped just two coins in that plate. He immediately turned to his disciples and made them aware of what she had just done.
If you’re on a journey this Lent season to be in deeper communion with God but you feel sometimes that you fall short, be warmly reminded that God sees your actions and knows your heart. As you think about that, hold onto these words:
“For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 (ESV)
