This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Today I am reminding you about the best invitation anyone could receive this holiday season.
My husband and I attended a very nice Christmas party this past weekend. On the drive home, I said to him, “Honey, that was really a great party. I’m so glad we were invited.”
I’m sure many of you have your own invites to a number of celebrations this season. Yet in addition to enjoying the festivities of the season, as followers of Christ I am encouraging you to remember that the best invitation anyone could receive is the invitation to receive Christ as their savior.
When I turn to the Scriptures, I think about the early Christians we read about in the book of Acts. These early Christians were asked to spread the good news about Christ. They were not trained teachers or preachers; they were ordinary people. Yet the power of Christ was evident in their lives.
There are people who don’t have an intimate relationship with God, but they watch us. They study our relationship with Him. They listen to how we go on and on about God and become inspired when we say things like, “It was nobody but God who did that for me,” and they want that too.
The best invitation this season is to offer someone in need the invitation of Christ. When we do this, we can’t go wrong. So today, are your actions an invitation for someone to accept Christ or to be inspired to go deeper with him? As you reflect on that, hold onto these words: “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (NIV)
