This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
Today I am thinking about how I respond when God Chooses someone else.
There have been times in my life when I really wanted something, but God had a different course for me at the time. Maybe he chose someone else for the assignment that I really wanted.
I had this thought as I was reading about how David really wanted nothing more than to build the Temple but God denied him this right, and chose someone else.
I find David’s response so instructive, because rather than sulk or disengage, David became even more engaged. Specifically, in I Chronicles 22 we learn that David helped to select the site for the temple. He even secured the necessary building materials, and would go on to train the one that God had chosen for the assignment – his son, Solomon.
I love David’s heart and attitude. Quite honestly, it is one that I’ve had to grow into. Years ago, if God had told me “No,” about something that I really wanted, I would have taken it so personally. I may have even questioned if God really had a plan for my life. I have learned from firsthand experience that when God closes one door, He opens another.
The Words that I use to inspire me are, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
So today, trust God’s plan for your life even if He has said no.
