This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Isaiah 55:8 (ESV)
Today, I am thinking about how God is grooming us for greater.
This week, I’ve been talking a lot about my youngest son going off to college and his fears about not liking the school. Since it was not one of his top choices, he is afraid that once he arrives, he’ll realize it isn’t the right fit and will simply want the year to end so he can transfer.
However, I have learned from my own personal experience that even though it might seem like we’re off course or in the wrong place, we are truly right where we’re supposed to be. In fact, God often wants us there because He is grooming us for something greater.
When I think about being groomed for something better, I can’t help but think of David and his story. In his case, God used tending sheep and working in the fields to groom David for a 40-year reign as king.
Although we, as humans, cannot see any alignment between working the fields tending sheep and ultimately ending up in the palace, the fact is that David’s time in the fields was crucial to his reign.
As the Scripture teaches us, God’s ways are not our ways. So, my advice to my son is the same as my advice to us all. Even when we think we’re not where we’re supposed to be, we’re exactly where God wants us to be. With that, let us cling to these words: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.” Isaiah 55:8 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, know that God is grooming you for greater.
