This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: 1 Peter 5:10 (ESV)
Today, I am thinking about how God delights in difficult odds.
The Lord loves to bring a great victory our way, especially when the odds are stacked against us. That way, there can be no confusion as to how we overcame a seemingly impossible situation in the first place.
When I think about odds, I think about Gideon’s story. In fact, the story fascinates me so much that I did a little research about how the odds stacked up against Gideon.
As we know, Gideon was fighting the Midianites. He started out with 32,000 men while the Midianites stood at 135,000 men strong. Therefore, the odds were 4:1 against Gideon at the beginning.
As the battle progressed, God reduced Gideon’s army even further until it stood at 10,000 men while the Midianites still stood at 135,000. What are those odds? 13:1.
Finally, God shrunk his army even further. Why? Because he wanted Gideon to know that God alone would win the battle for him.
In the end, Gideon’s army was reduced to 300 against the Midianites’ 135,000. That is a frightening 450:1. Those odds seemed insurmountable. Yet with God, nothing is insurmountable.
While your plan belongs to you, the odds always belong to God. Therefore, let us cling to these words: “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10 (ESV)

So today, know that God is mastering all odds.
