This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Philippians 2:13 (NIV)
Today, I am thinking about how God can handpick anyone to be used in His service.
Recently, I talked about how our prior acts don’t disqualify us. In that instance I was specifically talking about God’s love. Specifically, we tend to hold onto things from our past when He actually has forgiven us long ago.
At the moment, I am thinking more about who He chooses to use for His service. I am also still reflecting on the passage about Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman. In fact, the gospel of John, chapter four is layered with lesson after lesson.
In the passages, Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan woman is revealed. It is clear that Jesus knew that the woman had been married five times before and that the man she was living with was not her husband.
In the Scripture, the woman was so moved by the fact that Jesus knew about her past that she ran back to her town and told everyone to come and see the man who knew everything she had ever done.
As a result, this woman, a Samaritan woman who had been married five times previously and was currently living in sin, brought an entire town to Christ. In this way we see that sometimes we can be so quick to see ourselves or others as unworthy that we forget that God can still use us to impact the lives of others.
Next time the word “unworthy” comes into our minds, let us cling to these words: “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Philippians 2:13 (NIV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, remember that God could be handpicking you for His service.
