This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Today I am reminding you that God will always meet your needs.

Sometimes when I’m grappling with uncertainty, and I’m feeling my way through and praying my way through day by day, I appreciate hearing a good story that reminds me that God is near and that He hears my every word.

So, several years ago, there was a pastor and an assistant pastor who were organizing a new church. Their first informational meeting was being held in someone’s home, and they were expecting about eighteen people. However, on the day of the meeting, the pastor learned that fifty people were now planning to attend, so they were short tables and about thirty-two chairs.

The pastor said, “We can’t appear unprepared for our very first meeting!” The assistant pastor replied, “Don’t worry. You continue to work on your message for this evening. I’ll stop back at my house, and then I’ll go out to find the extra tables and chairs for us.” The pastor said, “Sounds like a plan, but let’s have a quick prayer before you go.” I think their prayer was simply: God, please send us more tables and chairs.

The assistant pastor drove home, and as he pulled into his driveway, he noticed a U-Haul truck parked next door. The sliding door on the truck was up and there were several tables and chairs inside. He couldn’t believe it. He knocked on the door and asked the man if he would be able to rent the tables and chairs to him. The man not only offered the tables and chairs for free, but he rode with the assistant pastor to help him set up for the evening.

This little story underscores how God never misses. He hears your every word and will supply your needs, even when it’s just tables and chairs. As you remember that, remember these words too, “Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.” Matthew 6:8 (ESV)
