This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Proverbs 19:21 (ESV)
Today, I am thinking about what happens when we take matters into our own hands.
Earlier this week, I talked about the various tribes of Israel that knew, based on God’s word, that they would ultimately receive parts of the Promised Land for their families—but didn’t know when.
Sometimes, when we can’t see God’s way, we might be more inclined to take matters into our own hands. This is exactly what happened to the tribe of Dan. They didn’t believe the land allotted to them was sufficient for all of their families, so they decided to take matters into their own hands and conquer another town.
The outcome was disastrous. Because the tribe relied on their own way and on their own understanding, they were led to failure. Their lack of trust in God kept them from His promise.
There will be times we’re in that uncertain place, and we believe nothing is happening. It may feel like nothing is working in our favor.
Yet the truth is that each day that we believe in the words God has spoken to us, we’ve taken another step forward by trusting in God’s ways rather than in our ways.
If you are struggling with your trust in God today and contemplating taking matters into your own hands, I would encourage you, along with myself, to cling to these words: “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Proverbs 19:21 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, release the desire to take matters into your own hands, and step up your trust in God.
