This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
Today, I am thinking about the need to hang in there—even when everything around you says you shouldn’t.
Sometimes, staying the course, or waiting on one of God’s promises to be fulfilled, can be difficult. It’s when things become the most challenging and our circumstances no longer make sense to us. We may even believe that our faith looks silly to other people, so we talk ourselves into letting go of God’s promises.
However, what I have learned from my own personal experience is that it’s best to hang in there–even when everything around you says not to.
When I turn to the Scriptures, I look to Noah. I am sure that Noah must have looked quite silly to many during the time he was building an ark, especially on those days when there was not a cloud in the sky.
Yet, Noah clung to the task of building his ark. He remained steadfast in what God called him to do. He did it at the expense of perhaps looking silly to others, continuing even when everything around him told him to throw in the towel.
It was, of course, more important for Noah to look silly in the short term so that he could be known as a faithful servant of God in the long term.
The words that I use to remind myself of Noah’s confident, steadfast ways are: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, cling to God’s promises, even if everything around you tells you to stop.
