This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Psalm 139:23-24 (NLT)
Today, I am thinking about the state of our country. I seldom use B Moments to address our political climate, even though I could likely talk on end about it, because I don’t believe God has called me to do that type of work.
However, if you’ve heard my messages before, you know I am not a fan of President Trump. I see him as a dishonorable person in every way.
Earlier this week, I happened to be flipping through the Bible, and I turned to Jonah; I see this as no coincidence.
If you remember, God instructed Jonah to preach a revival in the town of Nineveh, but Jonah believed the people there were unworthy of hearing God’s word and, ultimately, being saved by it. Therefore, he sailed in the opposite direction of Nineveh.
But, God has a way of bringing his children to do what He wants them to do. So Jonah, unsurprisingly, ended up in the town of Nineveh and preached a powerful revival. It was so powerful, in fact, that it turned 120,000 souls to God, and God, in turn, showed mercy on them.
In the beginning though, Jonah thought these people should have been destroyed because they were the archenemy of Israel.
So, I brought that thinking to our present day reality, and how we might feel about the president or fail to understand his supporters. While we might disagree on policy matters, we should avoid harboring bitterness or unforgiving feelings in our hearts for whom God still loves.
These are the words I would encourage us to cling to: “Search me, O God, and know my heart…Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” Psalm 139:23-24 (NLT)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, release anything in your heart that is not of God.
