Scripture reference: Ecclesiastes 3:1 (ESV)
Transcription:
Change is good and necessary; sometimes, it’s time for a change when you have mastered where you are. This was surely the case for Bartimaeus, who was a blind beggar.
First, Bartimaeus had been a beggar most of his life and had a prime location on the roadside for begging. Because many travelers crossing his path were making their pilgrimage to Jerusalem, they were likely more willing to give to him.
Second, Bartimaeus also wore a cloak to ensure he was easily recognized as a beggar and a blind man. It’s safe to say that Bartimaeus had mastered his way of living; he knew how to beg and how to beg well.
Yet when Jesus called out to him, he threw off his cloak, ran towards him, and even started following Christ. Instinctively, he knew that it was time to embrace something new.
Is it time for you to move on from something you’ve outgrown? As you reflect on, remember these words: “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 (ESV)
