This is your B moment. Your moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.

Today I am reminding you about the importance of self care.
Lately, I have been going through it, and my self care has taken a back seat to my to-do list. The other day, I reflected on what gospel heavyweight Marvin Sapp shared about self care that grabbed me the moment I heard it, and I have never forgotten his words. He said, “You can’t be anything to someone else until you are everything to yourself.”
His words struck a chord with me because as much as I want to be of service to God and to be used in His service, I certainly don’t always treat my body with kindness and respect. Whether I’m putting myself through too much stress, not exercising on a regular basis, or not eating healthy, I sometimes fail to care about my body as much as Christ would.
What I realized while I was sitting there is that when I dishonor my body in that way—whether it’s through food, or stress, or lack of rest—I am damaging one of God’s instruments, and I surely don’t want to do that. I do want to be used in God’s service.
We all have those times when some seasons are busier than others—this one is surely mine!—but this time I am stopping myself dead in my tracks and reflecting on self care. Do you find yourself in a similar place?
If so, join me in holding onto these words: “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (ESV)
