This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Exodus 33:14 (ESV)
Today, I am thinking about the importance of remembering to send God an invitation to your party. I know this sounds a little quirky, but I believe it is a significant part of our relationship with God.
I first began thinking of this while listening to a dear friend of mine express a little anxiety about putting her house on the market. There’s no doubt that when you are going through a process like that, you are bound to worry.
You’re investing money to spruce the house up for a good showing; you’re assessing what other properties are selling for at the time; you’re studying how the market is currently behaving. In other words, it’s completely normal to have some anxiety when embarking on the drawn-out process.
However, what I think about during processes like these—whether it’s selling a home, dealing with a teenage troublemaker, sorting out finances, or working on a marriage—is that there is nothing better to do than to personally invite God into that situation. That’s what I mean by inviting him into your party.
I do believe in calling these situations parties because when you invite Him in, there will be a cause for a celebration. In the case of my girlfriend, for example, I already know that her house is going to sell at or above market because she invited God in.
So, your most troublesome situation can become a party when you invite God because, at the end, you will understand that no one brought about that accomplishment but Him.
Whether it’s through prayer, in a journal, or even in a letter to the Lord, take a few moments to speak to Him about that situation you are grappling with today.
During these tough times, this is the scripture I’d like us to cling to: “My presence will go with you and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, invite him into your situation; I promise you’ll have reason to celebrate.
