This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: John 9:5 (ESV)
Today, I am reflecting on how Jesus is the light.
This week, I’ve been focusing on all the ways Jesus reveals himself to us. I shared that I read in the gospel of John about how he shows us he’s the king and the resurrection. I also talked about him being the shepherd. But today, I’m focusing on him being the light of the world.
Jesus told his disciples that he was the light just before he healed a blind man.
In the Scriptures, a blind man approached Jesus, and Jesus’ disciples questioned why the man was blind. They wondered if he was blind because he was being punished for his sins or the sins of his parents.
However, Jesus instructed them that the man was not blind due to sin. He was blind so that the power of God could be seen in him.
Just before Jesus reached down to mix mud and his saliva to form a paste to heal the man’s eyes, he reminded them that he was the light of the world. In other words, the man was blind for God’s purpose since God was using his blindness to shed light.
That story got me thinking about my own life, and I had to ask myself what situation I was grappling with where I needed to remind myself that God uses our dark times to shine His light. When that happens, we are able to give God the glory for our story.
The very few words I want us to cling to today are:
“I am the light of the world.” John 9:5 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, remember who the light is.
