This is our B moment. Our moment to be still…to be fed by the Word of God…to be grateful.
Scripture reference: Matthew 25:40 (ESV)
Today, I am thinking about how Jesus is right here among us.
I was recently reminded of how one of the synagogue leaders approached Jesus in a crowd, desperately asking him to go quickly to his home because his little girl was dying.
Although Jesus would heal the little girl, he was delayed getting to the man’s home because a young woman who had been bleeding for twelve years fought her way through a massive crowd so that she could touch Jesus’ robe. Her belief was that if she just touched his robe, she could be healed.
The woman was right! All she did was touch Jesus’ garment, and she was healed. However, Jesus felt the healing power leave him.
When I read this passage, I found myself wishing we lived in the days when Jesus was walking down our streets, and everyone had the chance to touch him—or even just touch his garment.
Yet thinking about this more deeply, I concluded that in a sense, he is among us every day. He is the homeless man sleeping under an expressway, trying to keep warm. He’s that young battered woman who just found the courage to leave but needs a few words of encouragement.
Let us see Jesus in the eyes of the needy today, and remember these words. “As you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” Matthew 25:40 (ESV)
Please share this reflection as others desire to be inspired.
So today, take a moment to see Jesus in the face of another, and touch him by touching them.
